The well-known Italian company executed the load-out operation onto a dedicated barge by means of Cometto MSPE 40T self-propelled trailers.
It was an impressive moment when the bullets were moved within the port. Each of the four items was up to 80 m long but they had different weights: two bullets with a weight of 350t each were loaded on a configuration of 12+12 axle lines in side-by-side configuration.
The two other bullets of 460t each were loaded on 28 axle lines in an open-compound configuration with bolsters, which was composed of a front convoy in a 6+6 axle side-by-side combination and a rear convoy in 8+8 axle side-by-side configuration.
“The Cometto self-propelled trailers type MSPE worked perfectly well during the challenging transport of the four bullets, supporting the Fagioli team to the successful project completion”, said Giovanni Pescatori, Fagioli Sales Engineer, about the challenging project.
Thanks to meticulous maneuvering, the specialists from Fagioli positioned the bullets onto a dedicated barge, while proceeding with the ballasting operations. Once in position, the four elements were transported by sea to Croatia.
Fagioli executed the load-in operation and the transport up a steep climb with an important gradient. That forced them to study the best method in order to cope with narrow bends during the journey.
Finally, the bullets were successfully stored onto dedicated stools. After this challenging transport and storage operation, the bullets were moved inside the client’s premises for the final installation by means of a gantry lifting system.
