Cometto SPMT deployment at minus 18 degrees

Reliability is the be-all and end-all for Vuorsola.

It's not just the load that is usually very demanding in SPMT operations. The external conditions also often demand a lot from the self-propelled vehicles. This was the case with a project for our Finnish customer Vuorsola.

In icy temperatures of minus 18 degrees, several ship sections with block weights of 320 tonnes had to be transported.

Reliability is the be-all and end-all in these conditions. The Cometto MSPEs provide peace of mind, as the combination of two 10-axle configurations in an open compound never let the operators down.

‘The winter package in the Power Pack Unit makes it possible to start our vehicles even at such low temperatures and drive them without any problems,’ reports Joachim Kolb, Sales Manager at Cometto. ‘Because without preheating the batteries, the cooling water and, of course, the hydraulic and diesel tanks, you would otherwise be at a loss here,’ confirms Mikko Vuorsola, CEO of Vuorsola.

The transport is being carried out for Aker Solutions at Enersense Offshore in Mäntyluoto. After ro/ro transport onto the barge, the components are then transported to the port of Pori, where they are unloaded again by the Cometto SPMT.

A showcase project which, thanks to its smooth realisation at Vuorsola, immediately generated further orders.
