The management of Schultze Steel Service from Bremen will shortly be putting their two new steelwork transporters into operation and recently visited Cometto in Italy for an initial inspection.
“This is a big day for us”, said Frank Pater Haase, Plant Manager at Schultze Steel Service, describing the sentiment and its bearing. “We’ve been working on this project since January 2019. It’s great pleasure for us to be able to stand today on the MTH 45, which was designed and constructed by Cometto to meet our exact requirements.”
Coil transporter with 45 tons payloads
MTH is the modern concept of the straddle carrier, which in this case was designed especially for the transport of steel coils. “This impressive machine”, added Fabrizio Lippi, Head of Design at Cometto, “has a payload of 45 tonnes. The vehicle is impressive in any case with a length of 9.4 metres and a height of 5.75 metres.”
A clear job now awaits the new acquisitions, which will be a noticeable advantage for Schultze Steel Service in its day-to-day operations. “With the steelwork transporters we can take up coils with a diameter from 760 to 2,210 millimetres. The hydraulically adjustable coil grab is capable of gripping coils with a length of 600 to 2,230 millimetres”, said the guests from Germany, describing the area of use. “And our drivers”, added Mijo Ljubicic, Workshop Manager from Bremen, “can’t wait to drive the modern machine from the large and comfortable cab.”
